I spent the day working with these cool kids and oh my dog they sure make me smile The baby long ears have been in training ready for the move to their forever homes. They’re nearly there now and it’s sure going to be hard to part with them this time.
The human on the other hand will not be sold
These days sure make a nice change from my professional work and give me some good headspace for creating new content that I plan to incorporate into keynotes and workshops this year. And they remind me of the times I spent at work with my dad on the land. During the school holidays and weekends we’d go fox hunting or rabbit trapping or I’d go to work with him in the pine forests where he harvested the tall timber.
I loved those times so much, and when Dad died two years ago it brought great peace thinking back to all those countless hours we spent together. It gave me a feeling that there was no unfinished business, that we’d had our time together.
Maybe one day my own offspring will look back with a smile at the adventures we get up to together. I can only hope.
For those of you with kids, not sure how you’re handling the childcare challenges that school holidays present. Anyone taking their kids to work with them too? Or maybe you’ve farmed them off to grandparents?
Either way, hope you’re all staying (relatively) sane and having some memorable adventures of your own.
Yours from down on the the farm,
